Dear Friends,
I am happy to inform you that Mrs. Nancy Peeples, our General Studies Coordinator, has received SCISA’s Coadjutor Award, presented to the Assistant Head of School making the largest impact on his or her school in the state of South Carolina. On behalf of the entire Addlestone Hebrew Academy community, I want to congratulate Nancy on her very well deserved recognition. Without fanfare, Mrs. Peeples has shown dedicated educational leadership for many years at Addlestone.
The Talmud states that if someone runs towards honor, honor runs away from them, but if someone runs away from honor, honor pursues them. Day in and day out, Mrs. Peeples works tirelessly on behalf of our school and students yet she consistently avoids taking credit for numerous things she does for our school.
Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel OB”M said, “even though text books are important, text people are even more important.” Mrs. Peoples is not only an excellent teacher of text books, she is also a stellar example of a text person who personifies a love of learning and the persuit of wisdom to her students.
Perhaps the most important facet of Mrs. Peeples’ service to our school is her role modeling of refined character traits for our staff, parents, and students to emulate. Her calm professionalism even in the most cahotic situations helps foster a positive atmosphere at AHA regardless of the circumstances.
While it is important and appreciated to receive thanks and recognition from our own community, it is nice to receive third-party recognition at times as well. This is especially true during a pandemic when it is gratifying to know that others outside our school community also recognize and appreciate us for all our hard work.
Mazel Tov on a job well done!
Shabbat Shalom,
Rabbi Elisha Paul
