Who Is Addlestone Hebrew Academy?
For nearly 70 years, Addlestone Hebrew Academy has helped students grow into confident learners, compassionate leaders, and proud members of the Jewish community.
At AHA, students are known, challenged, and supported every day. Small class sizes and dedicated teachers allow each child to be seen as an individual while building the strong academic foundation needed for lifelong success.
Our students engage in a dynamic dual curriculum that blends academic excellence with meaningful Jewish learning. From early childhood through middle school, students explore STEAM, music, language, creativity, and critical thinking in hands-on and engaging ways. Hebrew instruction begins early, Spanish is introduced in the lower school, and students develop the confidence to express themselves across disciplines.
Jewish values are woven throughout daily life at Addlestone. Students build a strong sense of identity, community, responsibility, and connection to Israel while learning the importance of kindness, curiosity, and respect for others.
From classroom learning to leadership opportunities, arts, technology, and experiential education, the Addlestone experience prepares students not only for high school but also for life.
Rooted in Values. Driven by Excellence.
Addlestone Hebrew Academy is Charleston’s Jewish community day school, welcoming families from across the spectrum of Jewish life.
We are committed to providing an exceptional secular and Jewish education in a warm, inclusive, and values-driven environment. Through strong academics, innovative teaching, and meaningful relationships, students are encouraged to think deeply, ask questions, and grow into thoughtful and engaged citizens.
Our approach combines academic rigor with character development, creativity, and joyful Jewish living. Students graduate with the skills, confidence, and moral foundation to thrive in an ever-changing world while remaining connected to their heritage, community, and the State of Israel.

Middle School students study Language Arts, Math, Social studies, Science and Spanish, as well as Hebrew and Judaic subjects. At Addlestone Hebrew Academy, students are known, challenged, and supported from 12 months through 8th grade. As members of SCISA (South Carolina Independent School Association) and PRIZMAH: Center for Jewish Day Schools, our students participate in academic competitions, leadership opportunities, and enriching programs throughout the year.
Our dual curriculum combines strong general studies with meaningful Jewish learning, helping students build confidence, character, and a lifelong connection to their heritage and community. Students begin Hebrew instruction in early childhood, with Spanish introduced in the lower school, creating an environment where language learning and global awareness begin early.
Small class sizes allow teachers to truly know each child and provide individualized attention that supports academic growth, creativity, and social-emotional development. From hands-on STEAM learning and outdoor exploration to music education and arts integration, students are encouraged to think critically, collaborate, and grow with purpose. Students build musical skills and confidence over time, beginning with recorder instruction in 1st grade, ukulele in 3rd grade, and guitar beginning in 5th grade.
As the culmination of the Addlestone experience, our 8th-grade students travel to Israel, bringing years of learning, identity, and connection to life in a powerful and meaningful way.
