The Zucker family has long supported education, particularly Jewish education at Addlestone Hebrew Academy – the only school of its kind in the Lowcountry. Their dedication over several generations has inspired a legacy of learning rooted in academic excellence and Jewish values.
In appreciation of the Zucker family’s commitment, we are honored to dedicate The Zucker Family Educational Campus where Addlestone Hebrew Academy, Camp Shalom, and future communal learning initiatives will continue to thrive and grow.

Inspired by the legacy of Jerry Zucker (z’l/obm) and Anita Zucker and their family, we proudly launch the Fund for the Future to propel Addlestone Hebrew Academy into the next era of educational excellence. We are honored to dedicate the Zucker Family Educational Campus and launch a Fund for the Future to recognize the commitment of the Zucker Family.
The Fund for the Future will focus on these areas:
- Enhancing Early Childhood curricula to include early training in computer literacy, robotics, and critical thinking.
Advancing STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) education to be successful in the 21st century.
Ensuring that funds are in place for future repair and replacement needs of the school campus and facilities.
Creating the ability to retain and attract proven educators to inspire our students.
Continuing to fund the Schlichim/Emissary program to instill a deep connection to and love of Israel.

What is Jewish Day School? What is Addlestone Hebrew Academy?
Day schools provide children with Jewish and general education in a nurturing environment that fosters a strong sense of Jewish identity and community. They are private elementary, middle, and high schools supported by Jewish communities. North America has over 700 day schools, reflecting the ideological spectrum of the Jewish experience.
Established in 1956, Addlestone Hebrew Academy is the only Jewish Day School in the Lowcountry. It is known for its innovative and individualized education, family-like warmth, and fostering Jewish values and joy in students. At AHA, students can explore and be part of one of the oldest-running Jewish-American communities in the United States. The beauty and history of Charleston are at each student’s fingertips, and children are integrated into a community that fosters the development of the next generation of Jewish individuals and leaders.
What are the Zucker Family’s contributions to the Charleston community, especially the Charleston Jewish community, and education in general?
The Zucker Family has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to the future and the importance of education. They have made significant contributions not only to the Charleston community but also to the Charleston Jewish community and extended their philanthropy throughout North America and Israel.
This legacy began with Jerry (z”l/obm) and Anita Zucker, whose philanthropic efforts set the foundation for his family’s enduring dedication. Anita Zucker and the entire Zucker family have continued this tradition, actively supporting various community initiatives and Jewish educational programs. Their unwavering support has been instrumental in advancing the mission of Addlestone Hebrew Academy (AHA), reflecting their strong belief in the power of education to shape a better future. In recognition of their unparalleled generosity and dedication, it is our honor to name and dedicate this campus as the Zucker Family Educational Campus, ensuring their legacy will inspire and benefit future generations.
The Zucker Family has always demonstrated its commitment to the future and the importance of education. Therefore, it is fitting to launch the Fund for the Future in conjunction with the dedication of the Zucker Family Educational Campus.
The Fund for the Future will focus on these areas:
Expanding Early Childhood curricula to include early training in computer literacy, robotics, and critical thinking.
Expanding STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) education to be successful in the 21st century.
Ensuring that funds are in place for upgrades and enhancements of the school facilities.
Creating the ability to retain and attract proven educators who inspire our students.
Continuing to fund the Shlichim/Emissary program to instill a deep connection and love for Israel.
Even if I can’t make a large donation, will my support still have an impact?
Gifts of any size immediately impact our students and families; they can see that their community supports them, values them, and invests in their future. A gift to the Fund For the Future presents your dedication to the AHA experience and helps to make every day on our campus extraordinary. Our success is a collective effort that helps bring our school’s vision and mission to life.
With a campus dedication, will the school’s name change?
The Zucker Family Educational Campus will continue to serve as the dedicated home for Addlestone Hebrew Academy and Camp Shalom, providing exceptional educational and recreational experiences.
How can attendees purchase tickets to the evening gala or support Addlestone Hebrew Academy?
Tickets and sponsorships may be purchased here. Your support will help us provide the highest-quality education to our students through optimal teacher-to-student ratios, innovative programs, and a curriculum that includes field trips, special events, state-of-the-art facilities, and advanced technology.
Will there be any accommodations for those attending the event out of town?
A block of rooms has been reserved in honor of the Zucker Family Tribute Gala at The Courtyard Marriott Charleston Waterfront (35 Lockwood Drive).
When will the actual dedication take place?
The campus dedication is free and open to the entire community. It will occur on Sunday, August 18th, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the Addlestone Campus, 1675 Raoul Wallenberg Blvd. This event will feature a ribbon cutting and lead into our annual Back to School BBQ.
What is the dress code for the gala?
The attire for the event is formal, and guests have the option to wear a black tie.
Isn’t the Addlestone Gala in the spring? Why another Gala so soon? Will there be another gala next spring?
The Addlestone Hebrew Academy Spring Gala is an event the parent body and the Charleston Jewish Community look forward to every year. The Zucker Family Tribute Gala is a one-time event focusing on the family and their contributions to AHA. We hope you will join us for an unforgettable evening. Stay tuned for details of exciting events happening in spring 2025, kicking off AHA’s 70th celebration.
