2026-2027 Tuition Assistance Information

At Addlestone Hebrew Academy, we take pride in being the only school in Charleston to take what’s best about an independent school—smaller class sizes, innovative teaching methods, experiential learning—and amplify that learning experience with rich cultural history, Jewish values, and a love of Israel. We maintain low tuition compared to neighboring private schools and are fortunate to receive tuition assistance from generous donors and grants. We are committed to ensuring that no Jewish children miss out on our exceptional lower and middle school programs due to financial constraints.

We are pleased to inform our families about the new Educational Scholarship Trust Fund (ESTF), which offers scholarships to families enrolling their children in private schools. Applying is simple—you can do so through your FACTS account once you confirm that you meet the eligibility requirements. You must show that you are a resident of SC (using your driver’s license), that your child is your dependent (you can use your income tax return), and that your adjusted gross income (line 11 on the current 1040) does not exceed a certain percentage of the federal poverty line. Please add your name to any of the following websites so you can receive an application for the 2027-2028 school year when applications open up.

SCSchoolChoice.com, SC-ESTF-Program.com.

IMPORTANT: THE SCHOOL WILL REQUIRE YOU TO APPLY FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP FOR THE 2027-2028 SCHOOL YEAR BEFORE YOU WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR TUITION ASSISTANCE

We respectfully request that before starting your FACTS application, you carefully explore all potential resources available to cover school expenses. This allows us to maximize aid and to allocate more funds towards teacher salaries, materials, programming, and other expenses to enable us to maintain our standard of excellence.

To accurately assess your tuition assistance, we need the most recent financial information you can provide, including your 2024 federal tax return if available, your 2025 W-2s, Form 1099s, and current business returns. We understand some returns may not be ready by our April 1st deadline, but we appreciate any current information you can share. If you have questions about your application or the process, various resources are available. FACTS offers an explanatory video, and you can contact them directly. You may also email Jessica Bennett at jessica.bennett@addlestone.org or send your questions to tuitionassistance@addlestone.org.

To respect the privacy of each family and to foster a positive school community environment, we ask that you do not share your financial aid decision with others and that you respect the privacy of other families who choose not to share their financial aid outcomes with you.

Finally, we ask that once you receive your award decision, you are diligent in paying your financial contribution in a timely manner. We commit to holding your financial information in the strictest of confidence.

We recognize that many of our students live in blended families. The Tuition Assistance Committee will consider the financial resources of both of the student’s parents/guardians, regardless of the legal or personal relationship between them. If the custodial parent has remarried, the committee will consider the resources of the stepparent/guardian as well.
In the situation where a parent or guardian chooses not to work, the Committee may impute a minimum income for that non-working parent or guardian. Certainly, this does not require a parent or guardian to work. Should there be a situation where the parent or guardian cannot work due to a disability, a hardship, or because of the need to care for a family member, the imputation of income will not occur.

You may appeal the decision of the Committee by communicating through our confidential tuition assistance email account, tuitionassistance@addlestone.org.  You may submit additional information and may alert the Committee of any changes that might have affected your financial circumstances.

Your application for tuition assistance is due by April 1, 2026.

You will be notified of your grant by May 1, 2026.

You may appeal the decision of the Committee by May 15, 2026.

You will be notified of the result of your appeal by May 29, 2026.

We appreciate your transparency as we evaluate all aspects of each family’s financial resources to ensure a fair allocation of resources.

Should you need assistance, we will be happy to help. Please contact the following confidential account: tuitionassistance@addlestone.org.

Shalom,
The Tuition Assistance Committee
