Succot brought Color War to Addlestone Hebrew Academy! Color War is a program that builds leadership and community; and more importantly, is a program that is known to bring out the strengths of each and every student. The concept of Color War is to split all of the grades into two teams, with each team assigned a color, a theme name and of course, student Captains to run the teams. Our artistic students prepare team banners, our musical students compose a theme song for their teams and our athletic students help lead their teams in athletic activities. This year’s teams were “ruach” (spirit/wind) or the white team, which represented the holiday of Simchat Torah and the “mayim” (water) or blue team, which represented the holiday of Shmini Atzeret.
As you can imagine, there are many STEAM activities that tie in with water and wind and the students engaged in many different STEAM activities, as well as Judaic ones throughout Color War. They also participated in a chessed (give-back) activity during this time, visiting our neighbors at the Sherman House, planting with them and making cards.
Our Early Childhood students did not participate in Color War but had a wonderful time shaking the lulav and etrog in the Succah!
