Effective education involves looking at children along a spectrum from those requiring the most individual assistance to those who are the most independent AND supporting their growth across all developmental areas: social/emotional, physical, language, and cognitive.
Student Support Services works closely with students, teachers, parents and other support providers to ensure that all students’ needs are meet. Families are encouraged to be actively involved in their child’s support service plan.

Specific Student Support Services
- Follow developmental progress of children through classroom observations, dialogue w/ student, family, teachers, and other professionals as needed
- Administer screening and diagnostic tools when necessary
- Provide individual resources & support materials/programs
- Curricular support, skill remediation, organizational tools & study skills
- Provide inclusion and pull-out direct instruction services to designated students
- Monitor student progress and adjust individual plans as needed
- Support services for social, emotional & behavioral issues

Student Support Services utilizes the following programs to assist, enrich, enhance and challenge students. All of these programs are based on the most current research on brain development and student learning and are highly regarded.
- Fast ForWord Language and Reading Program -k-8th grade
- Brain Builder - Computer based program that provides a systematic approacich to improving auditory, visual sequential processing skills.
- Earobics - Section 1 and 2 of this great reading, spelling and phonics program for students in k-2
- The Listening Program - A music based auditory processing program that is used to strengthen the auditory skills need to effectively listen, learn and communicate
- The Wilson Reinforcement Reading Program - this is a remediation program for decoding, reading fluency, sight words identification and vocabulary
- Feurstein Instrumental Enrichment - (FIE) is a difficult and highly complex program which trains the brain in cognitive skills such as organization, comparison, spatial orientation and analytical perception
Study skills workshops & organizational training are taught regular to students utilizing a variety of techniques and materials that best suit a partitiular grade level or student’s needs.

Support Services for Teaching Staff
Ways teachers benefit from Student Support Staff:
- Meet with teachers regularly to monitor children’s development and progress
- Provide support and suggest strategies for student instruction and behavioral management
- Design, implement, and evaluate individual plans designed specifically for students who receive resource services or assistance from other support personnel
- Provide resource materials & programs
- Provide up to date list of child and family support services in the community
