Addlestone Hebrew Academy believes that all students benefit from artistic education and expression. As such we offer art class weekly for students in K-8th grade as part of the school day experience.
Visual art at AHA focuses on providing all students with an appreciation of art as well as providing instruction in various artistic mediums. All students from Kindergarten through 8th grade attend art classes once a week.

The art curriculum emphasizes higher level thinking skills related to each developmental stage. Students master skills in the areas of drawing and sketching using colored pencils, markers, crayons, pastels, and oil pastels; painting using watercolors, tempera, and acrylics; pottery and sculpture using a variety of clays; printmaking and printing; weaving; calligraphy and lettering; and architecture. Art appreciation and art history are an essential part of the curriculum in all grades. Cross-curricular activities designed to enrich other subject areas are an important part of the Visual Art program and opportunities for further study are encouraged.
Student art work is displayed throughout the school during the school year. Students are also able to participate in local art shows and contests such as the annual SCISA art show. AHA graduates have gone on to pursue art at local private and public high schools and colleges.

Physical activity is critical component of student’s growth and development. Our PE curriculum focuses on providing students with knowledge, skills, and opportunities necessary to develop and maintain good health habits. Additional curricular components include problem solving, sportsmanship, team work, nutrition, social interaction, competition & cooperation, as well as safety skills and habits. A variety of activities are incorporated into the PE curriculum including yoga and archery.
The three primary objectives of Physical Education:
- Psychomotor: the dual role of skill improvement and gross motor fitness development
- Cognitive: the acquition of knowledge and the ability to process and interpret that knowledge
- Affective: the development of traits such as individual values, appreciations, attitudes, and interests
